YDAS works alongside young people with disability between the ages of 12 and 25 to raise awareness of their rights and to support them to achieve their goals. YDAS undertakes individual and policy advocacy to support young people with disability to have a stronger voice, reduce the barriers that they experience and improve their quality of life. YDAS is a core agency of the Youth Affairs Council of Victoria (YACVic) and is funded by the Victorian Government.

About Youth Affairs Council Victoria (YACVic)

YACVic is the peak body and leading policy advocate on young people’s issues in Victoria. YACVic’s vision is that young Victorians have their rights upheld and are valued as active participants in their communities. YACVic is an independent, not-for-profit, member driven organisation that represents young and the sector that works with them.

About Map Your Future

Map Your Future is an exciting new program that will build the capacity of young people with disability to exercise choice and control in their lives and access the full potential of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).  Over 9 months, this trial program will run as a series of 10 week, structured courses of individual and small group coaching. Innovative, flexible activities will empower young people to identify and plan life goals and create a personal NDIS ‘roadmap’.

About the role

The Map Your Future Project Officer will coordinate and evaluate the program. This will involve building relationships with and facilitating a series of one-to-one coaching sessions and small group workshops for young people with disability. This is an excellent opportunity to manage a pioneering project with a leading advocacy organisation.

You will have:

  • excellent communication skills
  • strong project management abilities
  • experience planning structured activities
  • a passionate desire to support young people with disabilities, their families and carers.

You will enjoy:
